The Famous Big Eddy Whitewater Rafting Trip-Deschutes River

We offer daily white water rafting excursions on the beautiful Deschutes River. Two hour trips leave 5 times daily from our office. The three mile adventure begins with a serene flat water float, where your expert river guide will start by giving you a safety introduction and a brief orientation of what to expect. As you meander through the beautiful Deschutes National Forest, you'll get a chance to practice your new skills through the first few Class I and II rapids.

At the midway point, you'll be able to stretch your legs as you and your guide scout the three visible rapids -Kenmore, the Notch, and Souse Hole. All are Class III rapids and are considered part of the long Big Eddy Rapid.

Back in the raft, our professional photographer will take a series of action shots, as you get soaked on the most thrilling portion of the trip. You can view and order these photos in the Recreation Office right after your trip.

After a few more rapids, you'll get an opportunity to jump in the river, play a game, or just sit back, relax, and enjoy the ancient lava flow, watch for osprey, eagles, trout, mink, and otters. At the conclusion of the trip, take a short walk to see Lava Island falls with a cold refreshing beverage in hand, while our guides take care of everything else. This section of river is appropriate for beginners and experts alike.
